The Codes of Life app lets the user browse the standard genetic code table. The table is displayed vertically as an 8 by 8 matrix. The 64 codons or DNA triplets are color-coded according to the charge-type of the translated amino acid or translational functionality such as start/stop. The codon display can be changed to 3-letter amino acid, DNA, or RNA codes; or 1-letter amino acid code. The table acts as codon keyboard, enabling the user to type a message in one of several formats: 3-letter amino acid code, DNA, or RNA; or 1-letter amino acid code. This message can be texted using the native messaging app.
